Alderley Edge School for Girls, Alderley Edge

The staff at Alderley Edge School for Girls felt it was time for a change after their staff room had been neglected for too long. With other areas of the school looking really impressive, the staff room had found itself essentially forgotten about and it was time to create a simple but modern and comfortable area for the teaching and support staff to get some respite during their breaks.

We knew exactly how to create that kind of space and proposed a configuration of sofas and stools arranged in a communal layout that would offer somewhere to both relax and work in groups whiilst having the added benefit of being reconfigurable into different layouts whenever needed.

Geo sofas and Cube stools upholstered in two blues that carried the school's colours were chosen after our design team suggested a few different options for the staff to review together and all have a say in what they wanted. Rather than choose faux leather upholstery - the sensible choice in student common rooms! - the staff opted for a fabric that is softer and more welcoming.

As well as the staff room, we also supplied some sofas in the same colour scheme for the school's reception area so that it would make better first impression on parents and visitors.
